Hello,
In this post, I will explain the process of getting an Access Token to be used in our Facebook applications. Our Facebook application asks us for a token to verify our identity for the operations we will perform. If we are going to perform long-term operations (such as automatically posting to our Facebook page), then we will need a Long Lived Access Token (Never Expire Token).
In this post, I will explain the process of getting the Long Lived Access Token required to automatically publish the content we publish on our site to our Facebook Page.
- If we want to get an Access Token for our application, we must first start by clicking HERE.
On the screen that appears, in the upper right section, we select our application that we created as I explained in my previous post. Then we click Get Page Access Token located right below.
We confirm and continue.
Then again, we click the Get Token button in the upper right and select the Facebook Page to which the content will be posted.
After that, when we click the blue Send button right below it, we should get a result like the following.
We are now at the point where we can get the temporary Token. To see it, we need to click the search field on the left, add the access_token field, and click Send in the upper right.
At this point, the necessary authorization should be activated by clicking the “Request publish_pages” (“Get App Token”) link.
Thus, we can see the temporary token and use it to get a permanent token.
Let’s copy our temporary Token information
Let’s start the process of getting a permanent token by clicking HERE
Paste the Temporary Token into the top field and click the Debug Button on the right; you will see that the information is filled in automatically.
At the bottom, it will give you the Long Lived key. We can use this when performing long-term operations. Don’t pay too much attention to the Date; at the end of every operation performed, this Token’s lifetime will be extended automatically. Of course, if you don’t perform operations for a long time, this Token may also time out.
Also, note down its Profile ID (Page ID).
