The foundation of the Space and Aviation Center, which is being built by Bursa Metropolitan Municipality as the second wing of the Science and Technology Center and is supported by TÜBİTAK, will be laid soon.
The Science and Technology Center, which has hosted 350,000 visitors over the past 3 years and offers children in particular the opportunity to turn the theoretical education they receive at school into practice, will also carry Bursa into the world league with Turkey’s space and aviation center project. Providing information about the investment, which will be realized with a budget of 120 million, Rıfat Bakan, General Coordinator of the Science and Technology Center, said, “The designs and what the exhibitions to be set up will be are now complete.
We are excited to be building Turkey’s first space and aviation center in Bursa. Its foundation will also be laid in the near future. As you know, space work is carried out around the world by developed countries with great competition. Space and aviation, which were initially viewed primarily as a scientific project, have now become an important agenda item. Almost everything, from underground mines to the weather, is done from space. I believe that the astronauts and pilots of the future will come from our young people who receive training here. They will carry Turkey forward,” he said. Stating that with their worldwide investments and work, America and Russia have significant capabilities in space and aviation, Bakan said, “For Turkey to exist in this field as well, these investments really need to be made. Everything has been finalized. Now comes the construction phase. With the laying of the foundation, we expect it to open its doors to its first visitors 18 months later,” he said.
