Windows XP is being phased out
Windows XP is having its plug pulled. Technology giant Microsoft has decided to officially retire XP, the first Windows software it released 12 years ago, on April 8, 2014. The legendary operating system has only 4 months left.
Microsoft is retiring its most popular operating system, Windows XP. Windows XP, which began being used exactly 12 years ago and became the most popular operating system worldwide, will officially be discontinued on April 8, 2014. This does not mean users will not continue using XP software. It only means Microsoft will no longer provide security for computer systems using XP software and will not install updates on the system.
OPEN TO COMPUTER HACKERS
In a sense, this also means computer hackers can easily get into computers using XP. In a statement from company officials, XP users were asked to upgrade their computer operating systems to Windows 7 or Windows 8. There are currently many computers using XP on the market, and most of them are not even 10 years old.
THE PROCESS OF CONVINCING COMPANIES WITH DISCOUNTS HAS BEGUN
Even today, most companies continue to buy computers using this system because some programs run better on XP systems.
According to data from Net Marketshare, a site that conducts research in the technology world, nearly 40 percent of computers worldwide currently use the XP system. In contrast, the proportion of computers using Windows 7 is 47 percent. A 3 percent portion uses Microsoft’s latest version, Windows 8.
Most of the companies using this XP system are small businesses. Microsoft is offering discounts of up to 15 percent on new versions so that these companies can update their operating systems too. In the company’s statement, the deadline for the discount opportunity was given as June 30.
